What is "Zaifu"?
"Zaifu" is a signboard hung outside of the tea master's house. It means, "The tea kettle is boiling at just the right temperature and the door is open to anyone who wish to enjoy a bowl of matcha."
In this project, we aim to revive the tradition of "Zaifu" at Naka-cho no ie, an old folk house in Kitasenju, opening a space for tea gatherings to the community just as tea masters once did. In today's society, where isolation is prevalent, we hope to remind people of the joy of spontaneous encounters and the pleasure of real connections.
